LOS ANGELES California Pizza Kitchen has hired Grant, Scott & Hurley to handle its creative and media account without a review, the client confirmed.
The San Francisco agency will assist in handling limited creative, including in-store, mall kiosk and some outdoor boards, said client svp of marketing Sarah Goldsmith Grover.
The Los Angeles-based restaurant chain previously worked with freelance creatives. BrannForbes in Dallas handled media.
"Our goal in hiring Grant, Scott & Hurley was to make all of our communications more integrated," said Goldsmith Grover. "We were familiar with their great work and the size of the shop was also appealing. They're a small, boutique agency that is known for fantastic creative."
Goldsmith Grover noted that the pizza chain's approach to advertising is to focus on specific units, rather than promoting the overall brand. California Pizza Kitchen operates approximately 150 restaurants in 25 states, the District of Columbia and four foreign countries.
California Pizza Kitchen spent less than $1 million on ads for the last two years combined, according to CMR.
