BOSTON EarthLink is reviewing its interactive advertising account via Pile and Co., the consultancy has confirmed, though it declined to disclose details about the process.
Boston-based Pile has issued questionnaires to an undisclosed number of agencies; responses are due back later this month, according to sources.
There is no incumbent on the assignment.
Billings were not disclosed. The client spent about $5 million last year in interactive media, per Nielsen Monitor-Plus.
The client in March awarded creative chores on its ad account to Interpublic Group's Lowe in New York following a review [Adweek Online, March 8]. Billings on that business exceed $50 million, and the account had previously been handled by MDC Partners' Crispin Porter + Bogusky in Miami.
Publicis Groupe's MediaVest and its sibling Halogen, both in New York, handle media buying and planning on the business.
"We revolve around you" is the ISP's longtime positioning line.
Representatives at EarthLink in Atlanta could not immediately be reached.
Two of EarthLink's competitors have also sought to freshen their agencies lineups this year.
NetZero began contacting undisclosed shops about its $70 million account this summer [Adweek Online, Aug. 1]. As yet, no shift from incumbent Bernstein-Rein, an independent shop in Kansas City, Mo., has been made, nor has NetZero made additions to its roster.
AOL in September tapped roster shop Hill, Holliday, Connors, Cosmopulos, an Interpublic Group agency in Boston, for an upcoming branding campaign.
