DALLAS Pier 1 Imports is adjusting its marketing strategy in the wake of declining sales, chairman and CEO Marvin J. Girourd said today.

That announcement comes nearly three months after the retailer launched its new ad campaign from Deutsch.

“Although we began the new fiscal year with guarded optimism on changes to the company’s marketing and merchandising programs, we have been disappointed by slow customer response and continued weak traffic in stores,” Girourd said in reporting earnings for the company’s first fiscal quarter ended May 28.
