The ADWEEK list of hottest magazines is based on several factors. In order of importance, they are: ad page and ad revenue gains as reported by the Publishers Inf

The ad page and revenue figures are weighted over a three-year period to account for magazines which may simply have recovered in '92 to reach their '90 level (although year-on-year gain is still the strongest factor).
For the foldout list of 10 hottest magazines that follows, only those with ad revenues of more than $11 million as reportedby PIB were considered.
The list of 10 hottest small magazines on page 22 covers the rest of the field. All magazines must have been published at least two full years with at least 10 issues per year to be considered, and they must be paid circulation titles, not controlled or association publications.
