KNOXVILLE, TENN. – Marketing officials with Philips Consumer Electronics here heard presentations from agencies hoping to make the finals for the client’s $25 million account, formerly with Backer Spielvogel Bates, New York. Included on the list of contenders are McKinney & Silver, Raleigh, N.C.; D’Arcy Masius Benton & Bowles and Ogilvy & Mather, both of New York; Team One, El Segundo, Calif.; Fallon McElligott, Minneapolis; and Mullen Advertising, Wenham, Mass. Philips officials told agencies they would cut the list down to three or four shops early this week and those shops would be given a briefing and strategic assignment at the company’s Knoxville headquarters, according to a source close to the review.
