Philip Johnson Associates has added Angel Evan and Bruce Fougere, a creative team with a background in developing ads for technology accounts.
Evan, an art director, and Fougere, a copywriter, join the independent Cambridge, Mass., shop following a recent two-year stint in the Boston office of Leo Burnett Technology Group, which closed its doors last year.
"They're virtually the perfect hire for this place—they both come with a design/collateral background as well as a general agency background," said Philip Johnson creative director Mike Connell. "Because they have most recently been with [Burnett], their understanding of technology markets is incredible."
Despite the demise of his former employer and the tech downturn in general, Fougere predicts a better run at Philip Johnson based largely on the greater diversification of the agency's client base. "Biotech is gearing up to be bigger than the Internet," and Philip Johnson is well-positioned in that space, Fougere said.
The agency claims about $60 million in billings for accounts such as Agilent, Applied Biosystems, Cerida, Eprise and IBM. Fougere and Evan will work on virtually all agency business.
