CHICAGO The Minnesota Twins tapped Periscope to handle its $1 million advertising account following a review involving several local agencies.
"We are very excited to have Periscope as our partner," said Twins president Dave St. Peter in a statement. "We appreciated the energy and passion they displayed for Twins baseball and the sound business strategies. We welcome Periscope to the organization and look forward to integrating their team into our overall marketing mix."
The Minneapolis independent beat eight agencies for the account. Among the local shops that pitched the account were Minneapolis agencies BBDO (owned by Omnicom) and independent shops One and All, Spyglass Creative and Tanaka Advertising; Casteneda Advertising in Edina, Minn., and Medvec-Eppers in St. Paul, Minn. Major League Baseball Productions' in-house unit in New York also pitched the business.
The American League team's agency for the past four years has been independent Hunt Adkins. The shop resigned the account when it went into review, according to team officials.
