Tom Davis Hires Hill, Holliday Creative Pro
BOSTON--Kathie Coe Renner has joined Tom Davis + Co. as creative director of the 25-person agency in Lexington, Mass.
Coe Renner spent the past two years as senior art director at Boston-based Hill, Holliday, Connors, Cosmopulos, where she worked on accounts such as Sony, Marshalls and Wang. Prior to that, she spent seven years at Houston Herstek Favat in Boston.
"It was time for personal growth, a big opportunity for me to be creative director at a comfortable-sized shop," Coe Renner said of her move to Tom Davis + Co. She looks to play a role in soliciting new business, especially accounts with a broadcast component, an area in which the agency has done little work, she said.
Coe Renner takes over the 10-person creative department from president Tom Davis, who will now concentrate on new business and client retention efforts. Davis had run the department for several months following the departure of art director Damon Meibers, who held the title of creative director for less than a year.
Davis and Coe Renner became acquainted in the '80s when both served in the creative ranks at former Boston shop Blouin & Co. They've kept in touch ever since and Davis has been a fan of her work.
"Kathy's client experience is a perfect match for our current clientele and prospects," Davis said.
One assignment she will oversee is a project from Progress Software in Bedford, Mass., to promote its International Users Conference, scheduled for this spring in Boston. Billings are about $1 million, said agency executive vice president Rick McKenna.
