A small Los Angeles-based ad agency is capitalizing on China's growing appetite for Western goods.
Pulsar Advertising, with about $13 million in billings, is helping Huntington Beach, Calif.-based Fancy Fruit market its frozen fruit bars (one is shown here) to the People's Republic.
The agency's first involvement in China occurred earlier this year. Its New York-based Pulsar Entertainment division helped produce a Hollywood Bowl simulcast of the ceremony in which Hong Kong was returned to China's control.
Fancy Fruits--"the Rolls Royce of popsicles," according to agency president Alberto Gonzalez--will be marketed to China's "growing, upscale consumer."
The assignment also involves posters, point-of-purchase and collateral materials, including signage and brochures.
Pulsar is also working with an undisclosed California pet products company which plans to export its premium dog food to China.
