DALLAS Accor North America's Motel 6 has inked a one-year sponsorship agreement with the Professional Bowlers Association that includes backing a high-stakes tournament in April, the company said.

The deal makes Motel 6 the official hotelier to the PBA, Strike Ten Entertainment and the Bowling Proprietors Association of America.

Motel 6 will also sponsor a post-season tournament in Fort Worth, Texas, April 14 that will carry a record $200,000 grand prize, the PBA said.

Motel 6 will also receive commercial spots on all ESPN telecasts and signage at all PBA Tour and PBA Wild Turkey Bourbon Regional Tour events. Accor North America and Motel 6, headquartered in Carrollton, Texas, are represented by independent ad agency The Richards Group in Dallas.

Motel 6 will also sponsor PBA Tour bowlers David Traber, Patrick Girard and Hugh Miller in the PBA Sponsor Championship Competition, the company said.

Based in Seattle, the PBA operates tournaments that provide more than $9 million in total prize money.
