Palisades Enlists Thomas

LOS ANGELES Susie Thomas has been named senior vice president and director of research and insights at Palisades MediaGroup, according to Roger Schaffner, chairman and CEO.

Thomas, 35, was previously at Omnicom Group's Ignition/OMD here. Prior to OMD, she served as media research supervisor and analyst at DDB/Optimum Media, Chicago, and worked as a media research analyst at Nielsen Media Research.

Schaffner said Thomas would oversee the Santa Monica, Calif.-based media agency's primary and secondary research and develop proprietary research tools.

"She was something we were missing," said Shaffner. "Sometimes you find the perfect person at the perfect time. Susie will make our company and our clients smarter."

Shaffner added that the breadth of Thomas's experience, which includes such brands as Sony PlayStation, Hilton Hotels, Nissan/Infiniti, Visa USA, ABC Television, Focus Features, State Farm, Clorox and Epson, impressed him. Schaffer said Thomas would take Palisades research and planning "to the next level."

"I'm excited to be here and the more I've worked with the people here the happier I am that I came aboard," Thomas said. "Research should never be used just because it's available. Rather it should be used to enhance ideas, quantify insights and emotional truths, all while making complex things possible and tangible. Research should never be dumped on clients, instead of being presented without expressing what it means for the business and media strategy."

With annual billings of $650 million, Palisades MediaGroup represents a variety of clients in several industries, including Audi, Barclay's Online Investors iShares, Del Taco, MGM, New Line Cinema and the Weinstein Company.
