Nicholson Named New ECD at K.C. Agency
CHICAGO--Less than three months into his term as NKH&W's executive creative director, Arlo Oviatt is leaving the shop to return to his native St. Louis.
Oviatt, who was named ECD of the $65 million Kansas City, Mo., shop in January, will join D'Arcy Masius Benton & Bowles in St. Louis as a senior vice president and group creative director. He will lead creative efforts for M&M/Mars brands Milky Way and Skittles, and Whiskas cat food, as well as for a new client he declined to name.
Oviatt said family obligations led him to look for a job in St. Louis. He said the decision to leave NKH&W wasn't made lightly.
"I feel at home here," he said. "I'm a little frustrated and disappointed that I won't be able to finish what I've started."
Oviatt will be replaced as ECD by executive vice president Nick Nicholson, who is also a co-founder of the shop.
At D'Arcy, Oviatt replaces Gordon Robertson, who left earlier this year for BBDO Chicago. This will be Oviatt's second stint at the St. Louis shop. He worked at the agency for nearly three years as an associate creative director on the Mars account before leaving in 1994. K
