Karen Stanton has been appointed chief financial officer of Ornelas & Associates.
The appointment comes as the Dallas shop positions it-self for growth and puts greater emphasis on timely financial reporting.
"Given our growth initiative, [president and chief executive officer] Victor [Ornelas] brought me in because reporting and analysis are both critical in the current environment of downward pressure on fees and as we grow," said Stanton.
Stanton will supervise theagency's accounting and administrative departments. Gauging profitability and expenses, as well as pricing services, are among her responsibilities.
"It's important to emphasize the value and experience we bring to the table, which can't be priced on an hourly basis," she said.
Stanton, who replaces Michael Mann and will report directly to Ornelas, was CFO at Advocare International, a nutritional supplements company. She also spent six years as vice president and controller of Rapp Collins Worldwide in Dallas.
Ornelas has also hired Tiffany Blankenship as media supervisor and Miguel Pena as accounting manager.
Previously, Blankenship was a media supervisor at The Richards Group in Dallas, working on the Ameristar Casinos, Guaranty Bank and Wyndham Hotels accounts. She will be responsible for developing media plans at Ornelas.
Pena will be responsible for up-grading the agency's accounting system and compiling reports and financial results. He has held positionsat Perot Systems, HSO Business Solutions and Tenet Health Care System.
