OLN Intros 'The Player'

NEW YORK OLN has launched The Player, a broadband video platform that resides at OLNTV.com.

The Player's content features a heavy dose of supplemental video tied to OLN's sports coverage, such as highlight clips from National Hockey League, Tour de France and Professional Bull Riders events. In addition, the new platform launches with 100 exclusive videos, including original expert commentary on activities like hunting and fishing as well as behind-the-scenes footage from field sports industry shows.

As of Tuesday, The Player was not carrying any pre-roll video ads, though standard banner placements were present along the lower portion of the screen.

The launch of The Player is the second major multiplatform move by OLN, which will be renamed Versus in September. A few weeks ago, the network signed a distribution deal with Yahoo that saw the Web giant stream live OLN-produced NHL games online.

"The launch of The Player is the logical next step for our network as we continue to expand our broadband presence and find ways to leverage new technology to benefit our audience," said Brad Friedrich, vp, Internet strategy and development.
