NEW YORK OgilvyAction, the WPP Group activation services unit, has named Ian Thomas evp, managing partner.
Thomas, who has been at the company's office in London as a global creative director, will now lead the creative services group in New York.
"Ian brings premier innovative talent and expertise to OgilvyAction. His drive for results and solid approach will bring powerful insight and quality thinking to our internal staff and leadership team," said Jay Farrell, CEO of OgilvyAction, North America, in a statement.
Thomas will develop the overall vision for the department and work to grow existing client relationships and solicit new business.
Before joining Ogilvy, Thomas served as creative director at Publicis Dialog, where he led the department and guided strategic planning for clients such as Renault, Zurich Insurance, Powergen, Procter & Gamble and Hewlett-Packard.
OgilvyAction works across various clients of Ogilvy & Mather and its affiliates in 36 countries. The group offers shopper and trade marketing, experiential marketing, digital communications, retail design and sports/entertainment promotions.
