NEW YORK Ogilvy has brought on Adam Lau as creative director to work on its IBM business.

Lau, 39, arrives at the WPP Group agency from independent AKQA, where he worked on Microsoft, Nike, Palm and other accounts.

At Ogilvy, Lau will partner with Greg Kaplan and work at the agency's New York headquarters. He reports to Jan Leth, co-chief creative officer of Ogilvy in New York.

"Hiring Adam was a big coup for Ogilvy," Leth said in a statement. "He comes with a great track record of producing the highest quality of work across a multitude of platforms."

Lau worked at AKQA for six years. Prior to that, he held creative roles at McCann Erickson and Saatchi & Saatchi in San Francisco.

In addition to his advertising work, Lau was a producer of Ha Ha Ha America, a short movie screened at the Sundance Film Festival.
