Agency veteran Laurie Null will take over as president of Y&R Group Detroit operations following the departure of president Michael Webster.
Null was most recently managing director of the Detroit operations of Y&R's Impiric division. Prior to that, she was responsible for national advertising and regional marketing for the agency's Lincoln Mercury and Lincoln Mercury dealer associations.
Webster joined the agency 16 months ago from InterOne Marketing Group (formerly Ross Roy Communications). He said he has not yet decided what his future holds.
Webster attributed his abrupt departure to the change in Y&R's ownership. The WPP Group's $4.7 billion purchase of Y&R was completed last month.
"In this age of acquisitions, mergers and consolidations, leadership changes are one of the things that occur," he said. "It's all interrelated."
Despite having struggled since Ford shifted its Lincoln Mercury account to California several years ago, Webster said "16 months is not enough time" to see tangible results.
In a release announcing Null's promotion, Y&R Inc. chairman Mike Dolan cited Null's focus on integrated marketing communications as key to promoting the 16-year agency veteran.
Null did not return phone calls seeking comment.
