BOSTON–Northern Light Technology has ended its year-and-a-half retainer relationship with Mullen.

Annual spending through the Wenham, Mass., agency had been $12-15 million, said Susan Stearns, Northern Light director of marketing.

She said the company intends to concentrate on highly targeted trade efforts handled in-house.

Mullen could be tapped for project work, but none is planned, nor is the Cambridge, Mass.-based search engine company planning a review, Stearns said.

After it was hired by Northern Light in May 1999 after a review, Mullen, an Interpublic Group shop, created print campaigns tagged “Just what you’ve been searching for.”
