The first “rant” TV spot in a series promoting new magazine ifcRant shows film director Jim Jarmusch (Night on Earth, Down by Law), and actor Nick Nolte discussing why they prefer independent films.
Jarmusch admits to liking some big-budget studio fare, but hails directors whose films “come from their soul.” Nolte talks about how studio-system films pigeonhole actors, who may repeat the types of roles that brought them success.
“Some [actors] will say, ‘This is what I went to Juilliard for,’ ” Nolte sneers.
