NEW YORK DDB, JWT and Taxi were top winners at the New York Festivals 2005 Television and Radio Advertising Awards last night. DDB also picked up an award for advertising effectiveness, as did McCann Erickson in New York.
Taxi in Toronto received the grand award for best campaign for its work on behalf of the Canadian Film Centre's Worldwide Short Film Festival, "Love Scene," "Good Cop, Bad Cop" and "Establishing a Character."
JWT in Buenos Aires, Argentina, won the grand award for best commercial for its corporate image spot for Aerolineas Argentinas, "Shadow," which shows children capturing the shadow of an airplane.
The grand award for best cinema spot was awarded to DDB in Berlin for a Volkswagen Golf DSG ad, "Kids on Steps."
The New York Festivals, which oversees six international awards competitions, also awarded the AME awards for advertising and marketing effectiveness last night. DDB in Berlin earned one for its Volkswagen Polo ad series, "Small but Tough," in the best product or service campaign. McCann Erickson in New York, the sole U.S. shop among the top winners, won for its MasterCard "Priceless" campaign for best use of media or discipline.
