Prodigy Communications, the fifth-largest Internet service provider in the U.S. with 2.8 million subscribers, has awarded its more than $8 million account to GSD&M.

A review was not held. Prodigy parted ways with previous agency TBWA\Chiat\Day in New York several months ago.

A year of rapid-fire change presaged the new agency assignment, including a management restructuring, the move of Prodigy’s headquarters from White Plains, N.Y., to Austin, Texas, and a strategic marketing agreement with major shareholder SBC Communications, also a GSD&M client.

GSD&M was approached by the client’s new senior vice president of advertising and communications, Denise Fraser.
