CHICAGO dRM DDB chief creative officer Luis Miguel Messianu is taking over as president of the Omnicom agency, which is also changing its name to Alma DDB, the shop confirmed.
Messianu, 49, one of the founders of the agency and chief creative officer since its inception in 1994, assumes the duties handled by president and CEO Eduardo del Rivero, 62, who is retiring.
"Luis Miguel has the passion and leadership to take this agency to the next level, and I'm sure he'll produce terrific business results for their clients," said Dick Rogers, president of DDB North America, in a statement. "Under Luis Miguel's creative leadership, the agency has already developed some of the best creative work and business results in the DDB network over the last few years."
As a result, the shop, which was founded as del Rivero Messianu, is being renamed Alma DDB. Alma is Latin for soul. According to Messianu, the name change reflects the shop's "renewed energy."
