NEW YORK Omnicom Group will announce next week that it has hired former Interpublic Group executive Bruce Nelson, sources said.

While at IPG, Nelson ran the estimated $600 million Bank of America business that IPG landed in late 2002. A total of 16 IPG agencies worked on the account. The client in July 2005 had begun reaching out to rival holding company teams from Omnicom Group and WPP Group.

Nelson left IPG in early August, and the non-compete clause in his exit agreement precludes him from working for a competitor on the Bank of America account, now at Omnicom, for at least one year.
