Temerlin McClain in Irving, Texas, beat out Campbell Mithun Esty in Minneapolis to land advertising duties for Nationwide Insurance.
Steve Johnston, vice president of advertising for Columbus, Ohio-based Nationwide, confirmed the selection last week. Johnston said Temerlin assumes lead agency responsibilities for Nationwide’s property, casualty and life insurance and investment offerings. The agency will be responsible for creative development as well as media planning and buying.
“We liked Temerlin’s reel, the fact that they are focused on the service industry and the depth of their organization,” Johnston said.
The account, worth $22 million, was previously handled by Ketchum Advertising in Pittsburgh.
Johnston said Temerlin’s first ads should break in the second quarter.
