BOSTON Via said it has hired Dan O'Donnell as group strategy director.

The New York agency veteran was most recently a consultant at IAG Research. He worked at WPP Group's JWT in New York from 1999-2006 as evp, global business director. O'Donnell has also held senior posts at Young & Rubicam, Lowe and Euro RSCG. His brand experience includes Braun, Citibank, Coca-Cola, Domino's Pizza, Merrill Lynch and Procter & Gamble, among others.

"Dan is a tremendous addition to Via," said John Coleman, CEO and founder of the agency in Portland, Maine. "He joins us at a critical time in our growth and development. Our clients and all of Via's associates will benefit from the unique and powerful skill set that Dan brings with him."

O'Donnell will manage Via's high-profile TD Banknorth business. He will also play a key role in business development, working in tandem with Coleman.

"I have been presented with the opportunity of a lifetime," said O'Donnell. "To live in Maine, but continue to do the caliber of work that I enjoyed in New York City was irresistible."

Via ranks as one of New England's larger independents, maintaining satellite offices in Boston and New York. Along with Banknorth, clients include Analog Devices, CBS Radio Dunkin' Donuts and HP Hood, among others.
