BOSTON Interpulic Group's Mullen said it has appointed Scott Karambis director of brand planning.
Karambis joined the Wenham, Mass.-based agency as a senior vice president earlier this year from New York's Grey, where he was vice president of brand planning in the unit known as buzzGrey. In that capacity, he led planning for several of buzzGrey's consumer brands including Masterfood's Twix, Milky Way and Dove, the J.M. Smuckers family of brands and Panasonic. He also held posts at Margeotes/Fertitta + Partners and Saatchi & Saatchi, both in New York.
"Our talent pool just keeps getting better. In Scott, we have a head of planning who is completely focused on the work and will help us redefine what constitutes a great creative idea," said Mullen's chief creative office Edward Boches.
"My goal is to take [Mullen's] strategic work to the next level," Karambis said. "I think we can do this by building stronger, more exciting, but most importantly more useful connections between consumer behavior and creative inspiration."
Karambis succeeds Ted Nelson, who left Mullen earlier this year. The agency's key clients include Eastern Bank, LendingTree, Wachovia and XM Satellite Radio.
