Philippe Krakowski, a former corporate-communications ex ecutive at Young & Rubicam and BBDO, has landed at Interpublic Group in the role of senior vice president, director of corporate communi-cations—a newly created position. Krakowski, who started Feb. 1, reports to IPG CEO John Dooner.
Greg Smith was named executive vice president, director of global systems at Universal McCann, a newly created position. Smith, who is based in New York, previously served as senior vice president, chief information officer of Zenith Media in New York. Universal McCann is part of McCann-Erickson WorldGroup.
Blum Ellenson appointed Brandon Lowitz director of business development. Prior to joining the New York-based agency, he worked as director of business development at Dennis Interactive.
Cohn & Wolfe promoted two executives. Martin Ellis rose to executive vice pres ident, managing director, international development, effective immediately. He was previously managing director of the agency's London office. Jonathan Shore was elevated to managing director of the London office, succeeding Ellis in that post. He most recently was director of the corporate division. Cohn & Wolfe is based in New York.
RichFX hired Johann Butting as chief executive officer. He assumes the role held by RichFX co-founder Tal Kerret, who is taking on new responsibilities at the New York-based company as head of business development. Butting formerly was chief executive officer of Digital World Services, a subsidiary of Bertelsmann AG.
Wenner Media promoted two executives. John Gruber rose to chief financial officer; he previously served as controller. Tim Walsh was elevated to vice president of corporate finance; he formerly worked as tax director. Gruber and Walsh will be based in the company's New York headquarters.
Turner Broadcasting Sales, the advertising and marketing arm of Turner Broadcasting System, promoted two executives. Alyssa Hochheiser was elevated to vice president of Direct Response Advertising for Turner Broadcasting System's entertainment networks. She formerly worked as di rector of Direct Response Advertising for the unit. Jason Baron rose to vice pres ident of Direct Response Advertising for the CNN News Group, a division of Turner Broadcasting System. He most recently was director of Direct Response Adver tising for the news group. Turner Broadcasting Sales is based in New York.
Brian Tierney, founder of Tierney Communications, will re linquish his president and CEO titles, effective April 15, and take on the new role of founder/chairman of the Philadelphia communications company. Three executives will take over his duties. Scott Franks, executive vice president, chief operating officer of Tierney Advertising, will become CEO of Tierney Communications. Mary Stengel Austen, executive vice president and general manager of Tierney Public Relations, will become president of Tierney Communications. Tony DeGregorio will retain his titles of chairman and chief creative officer of Tierney Advertising. Tierney Advertising, the advertising division of Tierney Communications, will be renamed Tierney DeGregorio Advertising.
DMW hired two staffers. Nicole FitzGibbon was named an account executive, working primarily on Highmark Blue Cross Blue Shield; prior to joining the Wayne-based agency, she was at M&M Associates. John Hammonds was appointed director of fulfillment; he formerly was an advertising sales account executive at the Main Line Times.
