CONNECTICUTTamara Simpson has been named account coordinator at Mason & Madison PR. Since joining Mason & Madison in 1998, Simpson has worked for the family of companies in various capacities, including administrative, new business and event planning. Simpson will work on agency accounts Verizon Wireless and Thomas Publishing. She also will assist in agency promotion. Prior to joining the New Haven agency, Simpson worked for the Wellness Community, a nonprofit cancer organization near Boston. Before that, she was employed at John Hancock Financial Services as a marketing representative. HEH Associates, a Wilton-based marketing firm, has named James Frankum to the newly created position of vice president, business development. Before joining HEH, Frankum spent eight years at Stamford-based Corporate Branding, where he held several senior-management positions, including group director, strategy and vice president, management supervisor. Prior to Corporate Branding, Frankum was vice president, account supervisor at Young & Rubicam, where he was responsible for the U.S. Postal Service, Metropolitan Life Insurance and American Home Products accounts. Glen Snowden has joined Mintz & Hoke, Avon, as an art director. In his new role, he will be responsible for the creation and execution of concepts for the design of print campaigns and collateral for clients such as the Wiremold Co., Crompton Corp. and Ingersoll-Rand. He reports to Sue Strawderman, creative director at the agency. Before Mintz & Hoke, Snowden was art director at Darby O'Brien Advertising in South Hadley, Mass., where he designed print and broadcast campaigns. Denis Gendreau was promoted to senior media planner, in the media department. He reports to Eric Schweighoffer, vice president, associate media director. Gendreau's responsibilities include strategic planning, compiling competitive research and analyzing/negotiating media opportunities for clients Pratt & Whitney, Certainteed, MassMutual and the Taunton Press. Heather Gillette has joined the agency as an account supervisor in public relations. She will manage PR programs for clients such as the Taunton Press, the Connecticut Partnership for Long Term Care and Connecticut Learns School-to-Work initiative. She reports to director of public relations Tom Bradley. Barbara Sokolski has joined the company as production manager. She will be acting as both traffic and production manager on various accounts. Sokolski reports to production supervisor Susan Bunn. Jennifer Vallez has joined the agency as interactive art director. She will be responsible for the design of Web sites, as well as various multimedia projects. She reports to Eulah Sheffield, director of interactive services. Previously, Vallez was a Web designer at Keiler & Co., Farmington, Conn., where she developed sites for Cookson Electronics, the Connecticut Opera and Fairchild Dornier. MASSACHUSETTSBBL Advertising, Acton, has promoted Kevin Carroll to director of business development and Deneen Millner to sales coordinator. Lauren Chadwick has been advanced to copywriter. Jennifer Nathan has been moved to public-relations administrative assistant. Scott Hamilton has joined as a designer. Carolyn Salvatore has come aboard as production director. Also, Bethany Gake has been promoted to ac counting manager.David Pothier has joined Barrett Communications, Cambridge, as a Web developer.Michele Pendergast has joined the Massachusetts Eye & Ear Infirmary, Boston, as a public affairs associate.Allen & Gerritsen, Watertown, has appointed Alison Labuda as account assistant, Bettina Gillen as copywriter, and Theresa Hahn as senior interactive developer. Prior to joining Allen & Gerritsen, Labuda worked for Hill, Holliday, Connors, Cosmopulos. She will assist the vice president, finance and operations with the day-to-day financial operations of the agency. As copywriter, Gillen will be responsible for the HomeGoods, MFS and State Street accounts. Prior to joining Allen & Gerritsen, Gillen worked at Spectrum Marketing. Hahn will oversee the development of interactive projects, including Web sites, online marketing efforts and multimedia projects for Allen & Gerritsen's clients. Prior to joining the agency, Hahn worked for Informio. A&G's clients include State Street, HomeGoods, Horizon's Edge Casino Cruise, the 99 Restaurants and the Iceland Investment Bank.Tracey Morgan has joined Modernista!, Boston, as an art director. Morgan will work on a variety of the agency's accounts. Prior to Modernista!, Morgan worked at the VCU Ad Center, Richmond, Va., as a graduate assistant. Before that, Morgan worked as an art director at Campbell-Ewald Advertising, Warren, Mich. Also at Modernista!, Mario Proia was named assistant production supervisor and will work on a variety of the shop's accounts. Previously, Proia was employed as a studio manager at Donovan Group, Watertown, Mass. He also worked at Cipriani Kremer Design and was a freelance Mac artist for Bronner Slosberg Humphrey and Arnold Worldwide, all of Boston. Amy Stearns has been named as an art buyer. Stearns will work on the Roxio, GAP and Hummer accounts. VERMONTErica Danford and Rebecca Gubkin have joined Jager Di Paola Kemp Design, Burlington, as account director and assistant account manager. Two new production professional have also joined JDK. As production manager, Kristen Courtemanche will oversee print work. Courtemanche comes to JDK with more than seven years' experience, having worked as production director at One Magazine and as production manager at Wired magazine, both in San Francisco. Matthew Hay joins as a digital production specialist, responsible for translating design concepts into production-ready mechanical art. Current JDK clients include Burton Snowboards, Intrawest Resorts, Osram Sylvania, Thomson Learning, MasterCard International, Polaroid and Wolverine World Wide for Merrell footwear.
