TEXAS The Northway Group, Dallas, hired business manager Nancy White and production artist Jacqueline Rivera. Before joining the agency, White was controller for Compu-Net Inc. in Dallas, while Rivera is a recent graduate of the University of North Texas, Denton, and has experience at the UNT Art Center and Lewisville, Texas-based Bio-Synthesis. Kelly Acree joined Michael A. Burns & Associates, Dallas, as assistant account executive to perform writing and media relations duties. She will serve accounts in the healthcare, technology and retail categories. Acree previously was a public relations associate at W.B. Doner & Co., Detroit, where she managed the Sterling Plumbing Group account. The Forbes Group, a retail marketing management company in Dallas, added account director Judy Brooks to work on the agency's Pizza Hut account. Brooks has had stints at Bozell Worldwide in Atlanta, where she served as account supervisor on that shop's Taco Bell business. She is also formerly a division marketing manager for Pizza Hut, now based in Dallas. PSW Technologies, a software development and systems integration services provider in Austin, promoted Dennis Thompson to senior vice president of sales and marketing. Thompson has been with PSW for three years. Berkom USA, Austin, named Stephen Mills vice president of multimedia applications. Mills' responsibilities include developing new product and service systems integration strategies for a range of multimedia and enhanced Internet services applications. Berkom USA conducts strategic, technical and product marketing in North America for Deutsche Telekom AG, Europe's largest telecommunications carrier. Jim Augustine, publisher of Private Clubs magazine in Dallas, appointed Patricia Baldwin editor-in-chief. Previous-ly editor-in-chief of Golf for Women, in Lake Mary, Fla., Baldwin is also a former business writer and columnist for The Dallas Morning News and The Dallas Times-Herald. ARKANSAS Art director James Mikus and creative group head Bill Fitzgerald recently joined the staff of Cranford Johnson Robinson Woods in Little Rock. Mikus, formerly with The Richards Group in Dallas, will handle clients such as Carolina Power & Light on CJRW's 180 Degrees team. Mikus also has experience with DDB Needham in Dallas and GSD&M in Austin. Fitzgerald, who was vice president and creative director with Fitzgerald Advertising in New Orleans, will lead creative on the Alltel account. He also had a stint as associate creative director at GodwinGroup Advertising in Jackson, Miss. Blackwood/Martin & Associates in Fayetteville recently promoted receptionists Shannon Bailey and Jennifer Cross to account coordinator and office manager, respectively. LOUISIANA Betsie Gambel was named media relations director at New Orleans' Logan Marketing & Communications, which specializes in healthcare, tourism, gaming, oil and gas, education and nonprofit marketing. Gambel was previously public relations director at the Academy of the Sacred Heart, also New Orleans. Her experience includes public relations and marketing consultation as well as fundraising work for nonprofit agencies, public, private and parochial schools, and colleges and universities. NEW MEXICO Rick Johnson & Co. in Albuquerque made two recent staff additions to its creative department. Copywriter Jeff Schmalz arrived from the Zimmerman Agency, located in Tallahassee, Fla., and had previously freelanced on advertising campaigns for Play It Again Sports, Anchor Bank and Berlitz Language Tapes, according to agency principal Rick Johnson. Also, production artist Ted Slampyak was selected to prepare print ads and collateral for the agency. Slampyak came to Albuquerque this August from Philadelphia, where he worked as a graphic design and art production consultant. He also worked as an illustrator for the "Neil Gaiman's Mr. Hero" comic book.
