NEW YORK Margeotes/Fertitta & Partners, New York, has tapped Fred Langbecker for the new post of chief operating officer. Langbecker will stay on as director of client services, a position he has held since 1991. Ammirati Puras Lintas, New York, has elevated Roger Bentley to executive vice president, managing director, creative and has hired Rob Feakins as executive vice president, managing director, creative. Feakins will be Bentley's creative partner on Iridium. Ammirati also reported four promotions on its business development staff: David McSpadden was named senior vice president, managing director, business development, worldwide; Liz Paley was elevated to senior vice president, group director, business development; Catherine Lourie was tapped as vice president, business development; and Christine de la Garza was named account executive, business development, worldwide. John Berg was promoted by BBDO, New York, to managing director of the New York office. Berg will work with president and chief operating officer Bill Katz to develop the firm's marketing capabilities. Rahul Rosha was named vice president, knowledge systems, by D'Arcy Masius Benton & Bowles, New York. Rosha will lead all internal Internet and Intranet development at DMB&B, and will provide consulting to its McManus Group sister companies. Jordan McGrath Case & Partners has elevated Melinda McLaughlin to senior vice president, director of media strategy and implementation. McLaughlin has been with the New York shop for four years, most recently as group media director, director of media operations. Discovery Networks, New York, has named Doug Harbert director of the Northern region for affiliate sales and marketing. He will be responsible for overseeing sales and marketing initiatives as well as contract negotiations for Discovery Channel, The Learning Channel, Animal Planet and the Northern region of the Travel Channel. Stephen M.H. Braitman was named director of editorial operations by Stagebill. Braitman had been editor-in-chief, director of professional publications at Gistics, a San Francisco technology research and consulting firm. Stagebill also appointed Ed Meisner as an account manager handling New England, corporate, and financial accounts. William Hitzig was promoted to the newly created post of chief operating officer, executive managing director at the Jordan, Edminston Group, New York. He will manage the firm's day-to-day operations and oversee its management team. The investment banking firm specializing in publishing, information and new media also named Scott Peters managing director. Screenvision Cinema Network, New York, has tapped Loren Venturi as national promotion sales manager. She had been director of promotion in Hachette Filipacchi Magazines' corporate marketing and sales development division. Catherine Crocker has joined the New York office of public relations firm Gibbs & Soell as a junior account executive. The New York Times Syndicate has named Bob Farnell sales director for North America. Marti Myerson has been appointed associate publisher of The New Republic, New York. Myerson, formerly of House & Garden, will be responsible for developing and implementing national advertising sales, marketing and promotional strategies, and will supervise all sales representatives. Tribune Entertainment, New York, has named Liz Koman as senior vice president, advertising sales. Most recently vice president, Eastern sales manager for Eyemark Media Sales, New York, Koman will oversee all advertising sales activities for Tribune Entertainment programming. Quest, a New York-based lifestyle and real estate magazine targeted at affluent Manhattanites, named Julie Dannenberg publishing director and Deborah Herman associate publisher. CNBC has named Marian T. Caracciolo manager of direct response and paid programming. The cable network also named William Melnick director of ad sales marketing. The Estƒe Lauder Cos. have appointed John Dempsey to the newly created post of managing director of Make-Up Art Cosmetics, overseeing all product development, marketing, sales, and distribution of the MAC brand. Manhattan Transfer, a New York-based postproduction and visual effects studio, has hired David Isyomin as visual effects supervisor. Director Hank Benson has signed with bicoastal commercial production company Shelter Films. Horizon Media, New York, a marketing-driven media services company, has promoted Gabrielle Magnani to senior vice president, account management supervisor. NEW JERSEY Matt Giegrich was elevated to president of The Quantum Group, Parsippany, a full-service health care agency owned by WPP Group. Giegrich previously served as executive vice president, managing director at Quantum and at sister agency Thomas Ferguson Associates. Frank Robles was tapped to head The Robles/Block Group, a new Hispanic marketing company affiliated with Block Advertising and Marketing, Verona. Robles has more than 20 years of experience marketing to Hispanic consumers for clients such as Citibank, Puerto Rico, Miller Brewing Co. and Pepsi. Integrated marketing communications firm Gianetto & Meredith, Short Hills, has hired Ron Reisman as traffic manager for the ShopRite Supermarkets account team. Reisman was a marketing assistant at Premisys Real Estate Services.
