ALABAMA Ellen Hutchings joined Jackhammer in Birmingham as art director. Hutchings previously worked for local shops O2 Ideas, Holland & Holland and Sankey2. Townsend, Barney & Patrick of Birmingham welcomed three new associates: senior art director Vicki Schenk-Atha, marketing services assistant Brian Key and Amanda Casey, who joined the agency's accounting department. FLORIDA The Robin Shepherd Group in Jacksonville hired account executives Michael Guiry, formerly a junior partner at The McCormick Agency in Jacksonville, and Kerry Brophy, who was an account manager at Walt Klein & Associates in Winston-Salem, N.C. Tere Zubizaretta, founder and chief executive officer of Zubi Advertising Services in Coral Gables, is one of six women being honored by Avon Products through its annual Women of Enterprise Awards. The program pays tribute to women who have overcome personal and professional obstacles to start and maintain successful businesses. South Florida public relations consultant John Bell launched John Bell Public Relations in Plantation. Most recently, Bell served as vice president at Goth-ard/Greenstone Roberts in Miami. Paxson Communications Corp. in West Palm Beach tapped Jeff Sagansky as president, chief executive officer and a member of its board of directors. Sagansky has held senior management positions at Sony Pictures Entertainment and CBS Entertainment, among other firms. Dale Smith progressed from senior copywriter to creative director at R.J. Comer Communications in Jacksonville. Lisa Yee and Scott Feldmann, principals of Magic Pencil Studios in Orlando, were among the recipients of the "40 Under 40 Awards" as individuals who are considered the next generation of Central Florida leaders. The program is sponsored by the Orlando Business Journal and SouthTrust Bank. Steven Martin advanced to vice president and becomes a principal and stock holder at Spiro & Waites Advertising & Marketing in Fort Myers. Martin merged his company, Martin and Associates, with Spiro & Waites in 1995. Clarke Advertising & Public Relations in Sarasota enlisted Sharon Martin as art director. Martin previously worked at various agencies in Boston. GEORGIA Terry Fisher was named president of The Hauser Group, Atlanta, while founder Larry Hauser remains active as chief executive officer at the agency's Savannah office. Previously, Fisher was vice president of marketing at Dixie Crystals. NewsLetters Plus, Atlanta, promoted Wayne Cunningham to senior marketing analyst. He joined the firm a year ago as database services product manager. Cohn & Wolfe, Atlanta, named Tony DeMartino chief executive officer. He succeeds vice chairman Jim Overstreet, who heads C&W's U.S. operations. Atlanta Gas Light Services, the new marketing subsidiary of AGL Resources in Atlanta, elevated Clifton Payne to vice president of marketing. MarketPro, Atlanta, chose Aaronde Creighton as senior personnel recruiter. Most recently, Creighton supervised marketing campaigns for NationsBank in Richmond, Va. Mark Gatza and Dagan Sharpe joined Idea Associates, Atlanta, to head the media and public relations departments, respectively. Gatza had been with Bozell Worldwide Advertising, while Sharpe was Southeast manager for Ray Rickles & Co., Atlanta. NORTH CAROLINA Anderson Communications Group's Charlotte office added six employees: production manager Heather Alverson; senior designers Beth Martin and Michael Klauss; account coordinators Heather Meterparel and Kara Klaveano; and receptionist Tesia Love. The Zimmerman Group in Durham advanced Caroline Blalock to project manager. The Alpha Group in Asheville established an executive committee comprising Brad Campbell, vice president and creative director; Kenneth Green, vice president and chief financial officer; and Gene Kendrick, vice president and director of marketing. SOUTH CAROLINA Brandon Walters, previously a freelance copywriter and tennis professional, was hired as copywriter by Erwin-Penland in Greenville. Addy Schmitz, former account executive at WPEK Radio, also joined the shop as media coordinator. TENNESSEE Roger Vaughn was selected as creative director for The Johnson Group/Johnson Waterhouse in Chattanooga. Before joining the agency, Vaughn served as senior writer and broadcast producer for The Tombras Group in Knoxville and was creative director and partner at Notch/Bradley in Chattanooga. Thompson & Co., Memphis, brought aboard production coordinator Kelley Hearne, who held the same title at Delta Life & Annuity Co. in Memphis, and art director Jeff Joiner, who came to the agency from Sossaman, Bateman & Associates in Memphis. Eve Hutcherson was tapped as senior vice president and general manager of public relations at The Buntin Group in Nashville. Hutcherson formerly served as director of corporate communications at Columbia/HCA Healthcare Corp. Lynn Bouchard moved to Hammock Publishing, Nashville, as a graphics designer. Bouchard had worked as a freelance designer for EMI Christian Music Group, Team Design and several other organizations. Dye, Van Mol & Lawrence in Nashville enlisted Gill Duff as executive vice president and managing director of advertising. Gill joined the agency from Young & Rubicam in New York. Gish, Sherwood & Friends in Nashville recently made four additions to its creative department: senior copywriter Darrell Soloman, art director Elvis Wilson, graphics artist John Cate and junior copywriter Adam Pawlowski.
