She will handle accounts for Del Webb's Sun City Georgetown, Origin Systems and Time Warner Cable. Olson, who will work on the Iomega account, was previously with Colle & McVoy Marketing Communications in Minneapolis.
Texas Video & Post, Houston, has added four new staff members: marketing and client services director Lynn Marticiuc, formerly business manager for BBDO in Houston; editor Patrick Givens, previously writer and producer at KTRK-Channel 13, Houston; post-production coordinator Shelly Thomas, recently assistant traffic manager for KTXH-Channel 20, Houston; and production assistant Matt Nguyen, who was a local production freelancer. Also, TV&P has promoted Don Sattler from editor and designer to special effects director. Sattler has been with TV&P for three years.
Carlton Smith was named vice president of sales at Clampitt Paper Co. in Dallas. Smith has 16 years of experience in various sales, marketing and management positions within the paper industry, most recently with Unisource Worldwide, another Dallas company. He also worked at Sloan Paper Co. in Atlanta.
Jessica Chapman has joined The Tate Agency, Houston, as assistant account executive. Chapman is a recent graduate of John Brown University in Siloam Springs, Ark.
The Dallas Morning News promoted Barbara van Pelt to vice president of development. Van Pelt has been the newspaper's vice president of marketing since 1993.
After five years, Jim Mousner has left Tribe Design, Houston, to form Origin Design, also Houston. Clients include Houston Lighting & Power, Aerial Communications, Compaq Computer Corp., Consolidated Graphics and the Houston Grand Opera.
Rives Carlberg, Houston, added art director Brian Leubacker, assistant account executive Jennifer Walker, production design artist Helen Mahneck and proofreader Marsha Stewart. The shop also promoted three-year Rives Carlberg veteran Dave Curry to vice president of information services and Karla Lang to assistant account executive.
David Walthall was appointed president and chief executive officer of Lyrick Corp. and sister company RCL Enterprises, both located in Dallas. Walthall is the former CEO and co-founder of Heritage Media Corp., also Dallas. Lyrick is the parent company of Richardson's Lyrick Studios, producer and distributor of the Barney & Friends and Wishbone children's television programs.
Rhonda Munk was named vice president of advertising sales for Dallas-based AMFM Radio Networks, a subsidiary of Chancellor Media Corp. Munk will oversee the company's sales offices in Dallas, New York, Chicago, Los Angeles, Detroit and Atlanta. Previously, she served as vice president of Western sales for ABC Radio Networks, also based in Dallas.
GulfStar Communications, Austin, hired Dennis Seely as senior vice president of sales. Seely is the former Southwest regional manager of Arbitron in Dallas.
Scott Gayle was hired by Fort Worth-based Stuart Bacon as public relations account executive. Gayle previously held a similar post at Witherspoon and Associates, also Fort Worth, and was with McGill Associates, Dallas, where he managed the account of Payton-Wright Ford in Grapevine.
Blackwood/Martin & Associates, Fayetteville, added account executive Sue Cearley. Cearley was vice president of marketing and public relations for the Walton Arts Center, also Fayetteville. Scott S. Parmelee was promoted from associate publisher to publisher of Outside magazine, Santa Fe. Parmelee has been with the magazine for 10 years, serving as its New England sales representative and as advertising director and manager in New York. He was named associate publisher in 1995.
