- NEW YORK Saatchi & Saatchi, New York, has appointed Claire Hassid executive vice president and director of planning. Mezzina Brown & Partners in New York has appointed Joo In Kang account director, to handle the agency's Real Media and FreeRide.com accounts; she was formerly with Young & Rubicam. Francisco "Paco" Olivarrieta has been named chief creative director of The Vidal Partnership in New York. He will be responsible for the creative direction and development of the agency's clients. London-based Zenith Media has appointed Pete Michalsky vice president, director of business development in the U.S. Michalsky most recently worked in ad sales at Times Mirror magazines. P. Robert Massey has been named associate publisher of Blaze magazine, Vibe/Spin Ventures' hip-hop title. Before joining the New York magazine, Massey was national director of promotions at Priority Records. Michael Pepe has been appointed president and CEO of London-based Time, Inc. International, overseeing New York-based Time Inc.'s magazine-publishing activities globally. He was most recently president and chief operating officer of Time Warner Digital Media. NCI Advertising, New York, has made several promotions. Scott Sager has been named senior vice president, creative director. Sager was formerly senior vice president, associate creative director. Steve Close has been promoted to senior vice president, associate creative director. Deirdre Dempsey has been appointed vice president, group copy supervisor. JSM has added producer Jimmy Lee to its production team; he comes to the New York company from DDB Worldwide, where he served as a radio producer. Movieline and teen movieline magazines have made the following appointments. Aristotle Athas was named director of marketing and promotions; he was previously marketing director at Premiere magazine. Alanna Velasquez was appointed sales department director for Movieline and beauty director for teen movieline in New York. Lisa Engert was named East Coast admanager; she was formerly senior account director at Vogue. Valerie Heller was named senior account manager. Robert Boyar has resigned from icon & Landis in New York to become president of The Strategic Creativity Group, West Palm Beach, Fla. Cary Michael Trout has joined Wolf Group Buffalo as associate creative director; he had previously served as managing creative director at Lewis & Partners. MRA, Syracuse, has made the following appointments. Bruce Bailey has joined the agency as a developer in its interactive department; he formerly worked for Gateway and Tickets.com. Heather Kowadla was named assistant account executive in the shop's public relations department; she arrives from ESPN, where she worked as an ad sales assistant. Michele Tasior has been appointed administrative assistant; she is a recent graduate of Le Moyne College. Ryan Communications, Syracuse, has added Todd Christopher, Phillip Dyke and Nan Majlaton to its team handling the Benjamin Moore account. CMP Media has named Mid Walsh managing director of TechWeb, a news and information network aimed at technology professionals and part of the CMPnet umbrella of technology Web sites. Before joining the Manhasset-based company, Walsh had served as a partner in Computer Services Corp. Three members of BSMG Worldwide's staff have been presented with awards. Ranny Cooper, partner and director of the agency's public-affairs practice, has won the New York Women in Communications Matrix Award for her work in public relations; she is involved in projects for the American Council on Education and the National Partnership for Women and Families. Micho Spring, president of BSMG Worldwide, Boston, won a Lifetime Achievement award from the Women's Network of the Greater Boston Chamber at the Chamber's sixth annual Pinnacle Awards event. Dolores Machuca-Ruiz, a senior associate in the company's New York office, has been named one of the "50 Outstanding Latinas of the Year" by El Diario La Prensa, the leading daily serving the New York, New Jersey and Pennsylvania areas. - NEW JERSEY Gianettino & Meredith Advertising in Short Hills has hired Jessica Lederman as an assistant account executive on its ShopRite account; Lederman was previously an account coordinator with Giovetto Advertising. Jack Gallagher has joined BusTV in Englewood Cliffs as vice president of sales and marketing, a newly created position. Most recently, Gallagher was vice president, media sales with AdMotions Direct. Morristown-based PMRC Advertising has promoted Katherine Buck to account executive and added James Schmidt as art director.
