Hill, Holliday, Connors, Cosmopulos has hired Ruth Ayres as executive vice president and chief marketing officer. She will lead new-business development at the Boston shop, a unit of the Interpublic Group of Cos. Ayres currently helms global business development at TBWA\Chiat\Day in New York as worldwide marketing director. She has also held senior posts at N.W. Ayer & Partners and DDB Needham. At Hill, Holliday, she replaces Brian Carty, who departed two weeks ago to become chief executive of Wheelhouse Corp., an Internet startup in Burlington, Mass.
Pat Cunningham has joined Gotham, New York, as executive vice president/group account director. She will be responsible for the Fidelity Powerstreet business. She was formerly an associate marketing director at Fortune magazine.
Jim Roxbury has been promoted to partner, director of client services from director of client services at Earle Palmer Brown, New York, a division of epb communications. He is respon-sible for the Novartis Animal Health account worldwide.
Nancy J. Friedman Public Relations, New York, has appointed Meryl Pearlstein as vice president. Matthew Karl has joined Nickelodeon magazine, New York, as production manager. He previously served as assistant production manager for Adweek magazine.

Adweek has hired Allen Tombello as an art director in its promotion department. He previously taught sculpture classes, and has worked as a museum preparator and film-company art director. Also in Adweek's promotion department, Elizabeth Tzitzis has been promoted to art director from designer.
Ryan Communications, Syracuse, has named Julie Nicholson Abate as media assistant. She recently graduated from Syracuse University.
Jennifer Munley has been named executive producer at Division Six, New York, the commercial production division of National Video Center, based in New York. She will be responsible for all aspects of production for the company's commercials and promotions now in production. Prior to joining Division Six, Munley worked as a freelance producer.
CarroSELL, based in New York, hired Jeff Voight as Texas sales manager. He was previously a major account specialist for Waste Management, Houston. Katherine Bordelon and Bruce J. Testa also joined the company as account executives. Bordelon was at Obie Media in Dallas, where she was an account executive. Testa had been an assistant media planner at Ogilvy & Mather, New York.
Bob Davidowitz has been promoted to publisher of Primedia Consumer Magazines' American Baby Group from group associate publisher. Norma Blatto has been promoted to vice president of marketing and brand development from group marketing director of Primedia's American Baby Group.
MRA, Syracuse, a division of the MRA Group, has named Diane Niznik as senior designer in its design department. She had been the owner and creative director of Diane Niznik Design.
