CONNECTICUT Denice Lee has joined KGA Advertising in Middletown as an account director. She will oversee business development and manage Bob's Stores, the Connecticut Department of Public Utility Control/Deregulation Education Project, Maine Street Market and other key accounts. She spent several years as retail marketing and advertising manager for the Jerzees activewear division of Russell Corp., overseeing a $16 million national ad budget. Environics Communications in Stamford has hired Christie Mohr as account coordinator. Steven Makadok has been tapped as group director at Corporate Branding in Stamford. MAINE Kurt Squires has been promoted to associate creative director at Garrand and Co. in Lewiston. A creative staffer at the agency since 1995, Squires was upped in recognition of his art direction on print, broadcast and corporate identity work for clients including Blue Cross & Blue Shield of Maine and Atlantic Salmon. Garrand and Co. also has named Lorraine Wark promotions director. She is charged with growing the shop's public relations practice while retaining her duties as an account executive. Anita Schenk has been advanced to promotions assistant from administrative assistant and media coordinator. MASSACHUSETTS Wickersham Hunt Schwantner in Boston has promoted Heather Mustard to account executive from assistant account executive. The direct marketing shop also has named Andrea Paroskie traffic coordinator, Andrea Orvis account coordinator, Jeff Holt account executive, Ben Guajardo and Sally McFall assistant account executives and Nina Kuruvilla new media strategist. Springfield-based MassMutual has promoted Eustis Walcott to senior vice president and executive officer, responsible for national advertising and media as well as public and community relations programs. Hill, Holliday, Connors, Cosmopulos in Boston has named Bob Shiffrar and Ken Lewis vice presidents and associate creative directors, Jess Willis new business supervisor, Tucker Gibson assistant media planner, Lindsay Cotter and Joy Allen account coordinators, Samina Virk interactive project manager, Julie Chester and Alison Labuda assistant account executives, Robert Espinosa assistant network buyer, Abigail Garrison assistant media planner, Shannon Kelly executive assistant, Eric Kierce MIS technical support analyst, Thomas Maher interactive quality assurance specialist, Janice Herra broadcast traffic manager, Carol Cochran media planner and Erica Knapp junior traffic manager. Boston-based Arnold Communications has promoted Anne Joynt to senior executive business affairs manager. Joynt, who works on the Volkswagen of America, Stop & Shop and Fleet accounts, joined the agency four years ago and most recently served as business affairs manager. The Weber Group, Cambridge, has added Anne Maher as vice president of finance and Trudy Almquist as manager of finance. Maher joins from Oxford Health Plans, where she was director of information systems administration and oversaw all aspects of finance within the IS department. Almquist comes aboard from Lightbridge, where she was business manager. In Weber's newly opened office in Austin, Texas, Andrew Craig has been named senior vice president. He was vice president at Fleishman-Hillard International's Austin and St. Louis offices. Fuse Integrated Marketing in Newburyport has tapped Sam Kimball as an art director. Kimball previously served as a graphic design manager at Fruit of the Loom Sports & Licensing in Hudson, N.H. Mathew Cronin has joined Concord-based Toth Brand Imaging as an account supervisor. He had been with Holland Mark Martin Edmund in Boston, where he worked on Blue Cross & Blue Shield of Massachusetts. Avery Roberts has joined Toth as an account executive. Roberts has worked at Hill, Holliday, Connors, Cosmopulos in Boston and McKinney & Silver in Raleigh, N.C. Nicole Seferian has been hired as manager of creative services at Wallwork Curry Sandler in Boston. She has worked at both Arnold Communications in Boston and Toth Brand Imaging in Concord. Paula Connard has joined Wallwork Curry as a receptionist. Dimond Communications Group in Boston has appointed Alex Forbes account executive. He most recently held a similar post at Sterling Hager in Watertown and also worked as public relations specialist for The Foxboro Co. Andy Paven has been hired by Boston-based McDermott/O'Neill & Associates as a vice president. He will provide communications and federal relations services from the agency's headquarters as well as its office in Washington, D.C. Paven has served as director of community and media relations for the Central Artery/Tunnel Project, a large-scale initiative to modernize Boston's tunnels and highways. Prior to that, Paven served as director of communications for the Federal Highway Administration and as director of communications for U.S. Sen. Frank Lautenberg. Shirley McGovern has joined S.R. Weiner as marketing director for the Mall at Chestnut Hill. She brings 10 years of marketing experience to the post, most recently serving as the director of bridal registry, training and public relations for Kitchen Etc. in Exeter, N.H. She has also worked at Macy's East, Jordan Marsh and Stride Rite Corp. NEW HAMPSHIRE First Alliance Bank & Trust in Manchester has hired Joseph Russo as a director. He was president of Communication Ink, a graphic design, advertising and public relations firm in Bedford. Carella & Co. in North Hampton has promoted Melissa Nordstrom to account supervisor from account executive. She will work on new business acquisitions as well as day-to-day client management.
