MONTANASpiker Communications in Missoula named Jerry May general manager. SOUTHERN CALIFORNIAThe Fox Family Channel promoted Todd McNulty to vp of on-air promotions. McNulty previously served as senior writer/producer at Another Large Production, where he was responsible for writing and producing launch campaigns, presentations and promotions. Andrew Hardaway joined Radium in Los Angeles as senior CG technical director. Hardaway comes to Radium from Industrial Light & Magic, where he worked on movies including Impostor, Mission to Mars, Galaxy Quest and Star Wars. Previously, Hardaway worked on ads for Chevrolet, Coca-Cola, Dodge and Nissan.Karl Backus joined the creative team at San Diego shop Matthews/Mark as an art director. Backus, a trained Shakespearean actor, will work on Nextec Applications, the San Diego Union-Tribune and other accounts. The addition of Backus bumps the number of creative employees to about 20. Backus was previously an art director at J. Walter Thompson in San Francisco, where he worked on such accounts as Coco's restaurants, PG&E and Chevron.Alejandro Garcia Ramon was named vp, international networks, Latin America, for Columbia Tri Star International Television. He will oversee the operations of the CTIT Latin America-based channels SET and AXN and will work with CTIT senior management in representing the company's interests in Latin American channels.Point B in Newport Beach hired Jim Parkhurst as senior art director. Parkhurst brings 12 years of art directing and creative experience to the agency. Prior to joining Point B, Parkhurst was a senior art director for Ingram Micro, a global leader in technology products. Point B also hired Lucy Gekchyan as a junior copywriter.Envision, a sports marketing firm in Los Angeles specializing in naming rights, sponsorship sales and consulting, promoted Rob Yowell to vp of sales/new business. Yowell joined in March 1999 as director of new-business development and manages the company's naming rights inventory. Kevin Gelbard was promoted to vp of sales. David Vinturella joined the agency as director of corporate sponsorship and will focus on national sports properties such as NASCAR and the 2002 U.S. Figure Skating Championships. Jim Reeder and Andrew Takakawa joined as sales coordinators, and Andrea Pelletier and Chris Allphin joined as assistant account executives.WASHINGTONDDB, Seattle, and its marketing arm, hunt.DDBdirect, have beefed up staff. Tracy Stirrett was hired as an account executive and will manage the Avenue A, Qwest, Microsoft and Tektronix accounts. John Williamson joined as an assistant art director in DDB's creative department. Norene Sandifer joined hunt as production manager. Lori Bentler joined DDB as accounting manager. And Noah Rabinowitz joined DDB as billing coordinator, overseeing the Emerging Technologies Group accounts.
