He was most recently vice president, director of media services at William Eisner & Associates in Milwaukee. Bates also promoted Richard Anderson to senior vice president, associate media director from vice president.
Ammirati Puris Lintas, New York, promoted two business development staff members: Maria Ohanian moved up to vice president and management supervisor, business development, worldwide from management supervisor and Christine de la Garza advanced to senior account executive, business development, worldwide from account assistant.
J. Walter Thompson, New York, hired Andrew Mueller as senior partner, management director. Prior to joining the firm, he was vice president, management director on the AT&T Value Group account at Foote, Cone & Belding, New York.
Rob Jacobson joined Grey Entertainment, New York, as senior vice president, senior creative director, a new position. He was previously senior partner, creative director at Ogilvy & Mather, New York. Grey Healthcare also promoted both Wendy Balter and Barbara Blasso to president in the Phase V Communications division; they had shared the title of executive vice president, managing director at the New York office. Balter remains in New York, while Blasso relocates to Stamford, Conn.
Mark Worman was named president of McCann-Erickson Consumer Health, New York. He was previously the Asia/Pacific regional director for McCann's healthcare network.
Jon Weilbaker joined Grace & Rothschild, New York, as an account director on the Marsh & McLennan business. He had been vice president, management representative at McCann-Erickson, New York.
Brouillard Communications, New York, hired George McGrath as managing director of public relations. Previously, he was a partner at communications consultancy Osgood O'Donnell & Walsh, New York.
Scott Winner and Stephen Scherer have joined Wolf Group's Rochester office, both as creative supervisors. Winner comes from Buck & Pulleyn, where he served in the same capacity; Scherer was most recently an associate creative director at Eric Mower and Associates.
Entertainment branding firm Lee Hunt Associates, New York, named Dave Landesberg account director on the Public Broadcasting System business, a new post. He joins the agency from AMC Networks, where he served as a creative marketing consultant.
United Kingdom-based brand consultancy Wolff Olins has opened a New York office, headed by Kate Manasian, partner and director of client services.
Horizon Media, New York, reported several personnel moves: Nancy Larkin was elevated to broadcast group manager from senior buyer; Gina Degnan moved up to senior account executive, account services from account executive; Samantha Cameron advanced to buyer in the radio department from assistant buyer; and Eveliza Jiminez was promoted to buyer, TV department from assistant buyer. Also, Michael Regina joined the agency as an assistant buyer, network department; she previously worked as a lifestyles associate at Bed Bath & Beyond and Marina Smith was hired as an assistant buyer, radio; she had worked in the theater industry.
Leslie Stubin was named president of Atwood Media Services, a new subsidiary of Atwood Richards, New York. In 1988 she was tapped to reorganize Atwood Richards' media services department; previously, she had been senior vice president, director of media at Tradewell.
Media Logic, Albany, promoted Darci Jones to senior staff accountant. She had served as staff accountant since joining the firm in 1995.

Anthony Cassara, president of the Paramount Stations Group, New York, has been elected chairman of the Television Bureau of Advertising's board of directors. He succeeds Andrew Fisher, executive vice president, TV affiliates group, Cox Broadcasting, who remains on the board and its executive committee in an ex officio capacity.
Tom Ross was appointed non-executive chairman of Profile Corporate Communications, New York. He was previously a principal at Aon Consulting.
At Deloitte Consulting, New York, Steve Aiello was appointed to the newly created position of global account leader. Before joining the firm, he worked
with Ogilvy Public Relations Worldwide as its regional client services director for Asia/Pacific.
The Radio Creative Fund, New York, appointed Rosemary Love to the newly created position of executive creative director, the Radio-Mercury Awards. She spent 11 years as vice president, creative manager at D'Arcy Masius Benton & Bowles.
The Radio Advertising Bureau, New York, appointed Renee Cassis to the new post of director, corporate marketing. Most recently, she owned a marketing and consulting firm serving media companies.
Sony Wonder/SMV, New York, promoted Annmarie Gatti to senior director, marketing from marketing director. Debbie Lawrence also advanced to associate director, marketing from product manager.
Avon Products, New York, tapped Robert Gibralter for the newly created position of vice president, global advertising. Before joining Avon, he was senior vice president for international operations at Grey Advertising, New York.

Sonja Popp-Stahly was appointed manager of public relations at Hanes Hosiery, New York. She spent five years with DeVries Public Relations, where she was an account supervisor for Procter & Gamble's Oil of Olay and Pantene brands.
Claudia Keenan was named marketing director of the New York City Opera. She had been director of marketing at Manhattan Theater Club since 1996.
Westwood One, New York, hired Paula Schneider as account executive, New York. She was previously general sales manager for radio station WPLJ-FM in New York. A. Richard Marks was also appointed chief operating officer, Shadow Broadcast Services.

Judy Capano was promoted to executive vice president, director of operations for McCann-Erickson WorldGroup's global healthcare activities. She previously served as executive vice president, international operations at McCann-Erickson WorldHealth, and she remains at its Parsippany office.
Linda Rosanio, founder and majority shareholder of The Star Group, Cherry Hill, has been named chief executive officer. Rob Simek also rejoined the firm as an account supervisor; he had taken a three- year hiatus to serve as promotions manager at the New Jersey State Aquarium; and Patrick Bosak was hired as an art director; he had been an associate creative director at Warren/Kremer/CMP Advertising in New York.
Rosemary Grippo joined Edward Newland Associates, Shrewsbury, as operations manager. She held that title at Becker/Jani in Middletown.
CommonHealth, Parsippany, made four promotions and four new hires in its financial services department: Adam Edgeworth advanced to vice president, director of financial programs; Alison Prestifilippo moved up to financial administrator supervisor; Laurie Daniello advanced to financial control coordinator; Tina Sterni was promoted to accounting and payroll associate; Laura Barrett joined the firm as vice president, controller for Health Learning Systems and ProCom International; Scott Bartel was appointed controller for CommonHealth's advertising and marketing companies; Gayle Giovanazzi was hired as assistant controller; and Erin Barrett was named finance administrator for the Thomas Ferguson Associates division.

Michael Cherenson, director of public relations for The Cherenson Group, Livingston, was elected vice president of the Public Relations Society of America, New Jersey Chapter. He had been a member of the group's board of directors.

Kelly Adams has joined The Niemann Group, Harrisburg, as senior account executive and manager of York County operations. Formerly the president of Kelly Adams Advertising, he will establish a York office.
Janet LoFurno, creative director at Praxis Communications in Huntington Valley, has been appointed to the judging panel of the 1999 Bell Ringer Awards.
Roska Direct, Montgomeryville, added three staffers: Vanessa Fitzgerald joined the firm as a senior marketing analyst, Joanne Borochaner was hired as an account executive and Jane DeVere was appointed to the new position of public relations coordinator.
The St. George Group, Pittsburgh, hired Dave Popelka as an account manager. He has worked in advertising and marketing for the past three years.
