COLORADO Denver-based ad agency Reece and Co. added five new employees: Kim Breshears, account supervisor; Scott Sibley, account manager; Eric Johnson, account coordinator; Tor Bennstrom, new media designer; and Julia Feldmeier, production artist. Breshears will oversee the agency's Destination Hotels and Resorts, Hunter Douglas and Vail Valley Marketing Board accounts. Sibley recently relocated from Kansas City, Mo., where he worked as an account executive for NKH&W and Barkley & Evergreen Advertising. Johnson previously worked as a marketing assistant for Norwest Bank Colorado. Bennstrom was a Web designer for The Shop Interactive in Boulder. Feldmeier was a production artist with Supervalu Creative Services. NEVADA Bayer, Brown, Forsythe & Ernaut, an advertising, public relations and government affairs agency with offices in Las Vegas and Reno, has hired three employees in its production and traffic departments. J.R. Merritt and Christopher Hagan join as production manager and traffic manager, respectively, while Bob Zucco will coordinate traffic and production. Merritt joins the agency from Las Vegas printer Nevada Color Litho. Hagan served as an intern in the agency's Reno office. Zucco was promoted from intern to traffic coordinator and production assistant, also in the Reno office. NORTHERN CALIFORNIA Alex Willow was promoted to national association sales manager at the 685-room Grand Hyatt San Francisco on Union Square. Willow joined Hyatt last August as a meeting connection manager at the Grand Hyatt San Francisco. Telemundo, a Spanish language TV network, elevated Ralph E. Herrera to vice president and general manager of KSTS-TV 48 in San Jose. Prior to the promotion, Herrera had spent a year and a half as station manager. Lighthouse Advertising & Design, a Santa Clara-based agency serving high-tech businesses, added Steve Hill as its new director of account services. Most recently, Hill served as vice president of account management at Pagliaro/Kuhlman Advertising in San Jose. His responsibilities included developing and managing strategic advertising, collateral and online programs for such clients as Boeing, Symantec, Newbridge Networks, Consolidated Freightways, Memorex and Mitsubishi/Shinko. OREGON Media director Jennifer Sawicki and account supervisor Mollie Gemma joined Red Monkey Ads & Ideas in Portland. The two will service existing clients as well as develop new accounts. SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA Marketing veteran Jim Wagner was named vice president, advertising and promotion, at Studios USA Domestic Television. Wagner, who most recently ran his own New York-based marketing firm, headed advertising and promotion for ABC's Good Morning America from 1988-97. Studios USA, a USA company, is based in Universal City. Jennifer McKee was named assistant production manager at Lawrence & Mayo Advertising in Newport Beach. She will manage production of strategic marketing programs and advertising campaigns for the agency's entire client roster. Prior to joining Lawrence & Mayo, McKee worked at Rubin Postaer and Associates in Santa Monica. Kiner/Goodsell in Palm Desert hired Wendy Fitzgerald as an account executive and Sandy Bressler as a media buyer to help service the agency's client roster. Fitzgerald has produced and directed projects for several entertainment companies, including Lifetime Television Network. Bressler most recently was a media buyer for Los Angeles-based Inter/Media Advertising. Pat Harriman joined J2 Marketing Services as public relations account supervisor as the Brea-based agency is expanding its services directed toward high-tech and industrial clients. Harriman serves as editorial liaison to the agency's clients, supporting all aspects of product and corporate publicity. Before joining J2, she was a senior account executive at Fisher Business Communications. Larry Poindexter, president of Abert/Poindexter, recently joined the teaching staff of the Art Center College of Design in Pasadena. A 25-year veteran of the advertising business, Poindexter has been involved in the strategic marketing decisions and creation of ad campaigns for companies including Hilton Hotels, JBL, Singapore Airlines, Sanyo, Fisher and others. He is a past president of the Western States Advertising Agencies Association (WSAAA) and a founding member of the Board of Directors of the California Advertising Alliance. Robin Haggard, head of the West Coast operations of Lee Weil Associates, was elevated from senior executive recruiter to vice president. The promotion coincides with the one-year anniversary of the opening of the Costa Mesa office. Haggard is in charge of recruitment and placement of account planners for the Chicago-based company. Pittard Sullivan, a Culver City-based marketing communications company, named Curt Doty to the position of creative director. Doty returns to Pittard Sullivan after three years as a creative director at 3 Ring Circus. He had served as Pittard Sullivan's creative chief from 1991-95. Frankel and Co. named Jay Gaylen creative director in its Southern California office in the city of Orange. Gaylen will partner with Erin Kociela, group creative director, on all of the office's accounts, including Avery Dennison, AAA, Unicare Healthcare, All-American SportPark and Nestle. Gaylen has worked at Frankel since March, first as a freelance copywriter and then as creative director on a project basis. He had previously served as executive vice president, creative director, of Think!City in Laguna Beach, heading up the Prudential Real Estate and Brita Water Filtration Products businesses.
