FLORIDA Chris Smith has been promoted to associate creative director at The Robin Shepard Group in Jacksonville. Smith has been with the agency for the last nine years, having started as an art director. Walker Design Group in Tampa has added Debra Kent Faulk as an account manager. Prior to joining the agency, Faulk worked as marketing director for Westshore Plaza. Adam Bielowsky has joined BVK/Meka in Miami as director of operations. He will oversee production as well as the day-to-day activities of the shop. Previously, Bielowsky was director of consumer marketing for The Sega Channel. Tampa's LevLane Advertising & Public Relations has advanced Jay Biernacki to media buyer and planner and Jeff Marrah to assistant account executive. FKQ Advertising has made three staff promotions at its Clearwater location: Bill Bennett to co-creative director, Kent Nereim to senior art director and Linda Stanley to traffic coordinator. Sarah Kessler has been named art director at Peak Biety in Tampa. Kessler arrives from Knoxville, Tenn., where she worked at TDS Telecom, Morris Creative Group and Ackerman Public Relations. The Meridian Group-Marketing Communications in Virginia Beach, Va., has appointed Michael Gentry managing director of its Fort Lauderdale office. GEORGIA Joseph Usher has progressed to vice president of client services at The Hauser Group in Savannah. Usher, formerly a marketing research fellow at Knight-Ridder, has been with the shop since 1995. Liza Jones has joined the staff of R.F. Broadus & Associates in Atlanta as a media buyer after a stint at another local agency, Tausche Henderson Drake. Broadus also added Jennifer Higley as an account coordinator. Carroll/White Advertising in Atlanta has promoted two staff members: Carin Holmes from account coordinator to senior account coordinator and Mary Kay Thompson from account coordinator to account executive. New hires at the agency are Karen Hylton, who becomes an accounting assistant, and Valerie Williams, who joined the shop as a receptionist. Patrick Scott has been appointed executive vice president and general manager for programming and operations at The Weather Channel in Atlanta. Atlanta's AFC Enterprises has reported that Jim Clarke has been elected president of Seattle Coffee Co. Clarke had been serving as chief operating officer of the company since 1997. Rountree Group in Atlanta has promoted assistant account executive Tina Hoffman Stevens to account executive. The Headline Group in Atlanta has promoted one staffer and added two employees. Ginny Moore has moved up to account executive, Colleen Aldridge Minton has joined the public relations firm as an account executive and Dana Hartline has been recruited as a project coordinator. MARYLAND Rosse & Associates in Sparks has named Phil Bednarik an art director. Previously, Bednarik served as a senior marketing art director at Black & Decker. Richardson, Myers & Donofrio has hired Karen Saverino as a senior public relations counselor. She joins the Baltimore agency from Agora, a publisher of travel, health and investment newsletters and books, where she was director of marketing and public relations. Eisner & Associates in Baltimore has enlisted Mark Rosica as an art director. Rosica was formerly with The Campbell Group, also in Baltimore. Robert May, previously with the Blakeslee Group, has moved to The Reeves Agency in Baltimore as a senior art director. The Campbell Group in Baltimore has signed Bryan Stark as an account supervisor. Stark arrives from another local shop, The Reeves Agency. Strategic Communications Group in Silver Spring has recruited Jeff Ellsworth as director of account services and Alex Zavistovich as director of public relations. NORTH CAROLINA Coyne Beahm in Greensboro has hired Roger Baxter as production manager. For the last 20 years, Baxter has held positions in commercial production and print purchasing for Lowe's Cos. Charlotte-based Lippi & Co. Advertising has welcomed Ann Jefferson as accounting manager. Dave DeWitt, formerly a media assistant at The Burris Agency in High Point, has moved up to media supervisor. DeWitt will manage all media functions at the shop as well as strategic development and Internet marketing services.
