Money In The Bank: Atms Could Be Next Advertising Medium

Yet another ad medium may be in the offing.
EDS in Plano, Texas, has developed a way to show full-motion video advertising on Diebold ATM machines and launched a four-month pilot test program last week at 165 ATMs in 7-Eleven convenience stores in San Diego. If successful, the program could be implemented in over 6,000 ATMs nationwide, according to company executives.
ATM users will view 15-second ads on the terminal screen while waiting for their transaction to process. The first ads to run in the test market are from Fox Searchlight Pictures for the films The Ice Storm and The Full Monty. Nissan Motor Corp. will also feature several spots for San Diego-area Nissan dealers. --Teresa Buyikian
