NEW YORK McCann-Erickson WorldGroup has expanded the responsibilities of Momentum chief operating officer Bill Kolb, the company said.

Effective immediately, Kolb, 40, adds operational responsibilities for Momentum's WorldGroup sibling MRM Partners. That shop's previous COO, Steven Roberts, left the company in late 2003.

Additionally, Kolb adds the title of executive vice president of McCann-Erickson WorldGroup.

In his financial role, Kolb continues to report to Ramesh Rajan, CFO of WorldGroup, but operationally he reports to both Momentum CEO Chris Weil, and to MRM CEO Pam Larrick.

Since joining Momentum in 2001 as head of its retail marketing group, Kolb has brought "strong operational structure" to the company, Weil said.

Weil said that uniting the COO function for both companies makes sense because the different disciplines offered by Momentum and MRM serve many of the same WorldGroup clients such as, Coke, GM, Anheuser-Busch, Microsoft and Nestle. Both agencies are global, creatively driven, and approach consumers on an individualistic basis, Weil said; Momentum through its event marketing and sponsorships, and MRM through its custom publishing and interactive efforts.

Kolb will look for opportunities for the companies to partner and share resources, Weil said.
