CHICAGO The Minnesota Partnership for Action Against Tobacco will hear pitches from three local agencies about its $5 million advertising account, the client confirmed.

Independent incumbent Clarity Coverdale Fury will compete against MDC Partners’ Colle + McVoy and independent agency Kerker, all in Minneapolis, for the account. MPAAT, which is funded through the state’s 1998 settlement with tobacco companies, uses advertising campaigns to promote its Quitplan program to help Minnesotans stop smoking.

Clarity, which has held the account for five years, recently broke a television effort for the program that depicted the lengths smokers will go to replace their cigarettes.
