Differences between founding partners will leave Kohnke Koeneke in Milwaukee with a new executive creative director and a new name.
Steve Koeneke has left the shop he started four years ago with Rich and Denise Kohnke, who are husband and wife. Rich Kohnke said there was “a difference of opinion [with Koeneke] over where the business was going, and how it would be accomplished.”
David Hanneken, previously one of three creative directors at Hoffman York in Milwaukee, will replace Koeneke as the shop’s executive creative director.
With Koeneke’s departure, the shop will change its name to Kohnke Hanneken, although Hanneken will not be an equity partner, Rich Kohnke said.
