ATLANTA Mercantile Bank plans to select a new advertising agency by the end of August, according to a request for proposal the company has sent to shops.

The Baltimore-based bank declined to comment on the review, calling it “an internal business matter.”

The client plans to spend about $4 million on ads (including direct mail design and production, as well as paid media) in 2006, and a review winner will be named by Aug. 30 to handle creative development and media placement, according to the RFP.
