Mediacom Communications Corp., a U.S. cable television operator, has selected Concurrent Computer Corp. to provide video-on-demand and interactive TV services to its digital cable subscribers.

Mediacom plans to introduce VOD applications before the end of 2001.

Mediacom will use Concurrent’s MediaHawk VOD system to provide digital VOD movies with enhanced TV functionality such as pause, rewind, fast-forward, as well as other on-demand interactive applications. The Concurrent system will be deployed on the Motorola DCT-2000 digital platform and will be the first VOD launch on Motorola’s National Authorization Service.
