BOSTON Meara Media said it has been selected to oversee advertising for the Metro Transit System of Madison, Wis.
The company will oversee ad sales for the system's interior and exterior spaces as well as on maps, schedules, passes and related materials. About 45,000 riders use Madison's transit systems each day.
Meara succeeds Obie Media in Eugene, Ore., which held the business since January 2002. Meara of Boston takes over the five-year, $1.6 million contract on Jan. 1.
Meara was formed a year ago. In addition to the Madison system, the company also handles ad contracts for New York's water taxi fleet, Boston harbor commuter vessels and Seattle's passenger-only ferry service.
