CHICAGO MDC Partners has acquired a minority stake in 5-month-old startup mono.

The Minneapolis shop, which was formed in January 2004 by two former Fallon group creative directors and an ex-Carmichael Lynch account executive, has only six employees and one core client, Sesame Workshop.

“Their reel is incredible and they’ve worked with stellar brands like Porsche, Harley-Davidson and BMW,” said Chuck Porter, chief strategist for MDC in a statement. “Mono exemplifies what we’re looking for in an agency in terms of their approach to branding and their idea of what an agency culture should be.”
