Mcgarrah/Jessee Wins AOR Nod For Teleservices Of Choicecom

ChoiceCom, a provider of telecommunications services in Texas, awarded its advertising account to McGarrah/Jessee after an informal review of undisclosed shops.
The Austin, Texas, shop succeeds Brothers & Co. of Tulsa, Okla., as agency of record for ChoiceCom, a joint venture of Central and South West Corp. here and ICG Communications in Englewood, Colo.
ChoiceCom's director of media relations, Ray Perez, said the company invited five agencies from Texas and Colorado to attend a 1998 sales meeting and submit a proposal for an advertising program.
"McGarrah/Jessee met with us on a Friday and came back on Monday with suggestions for what they thought we needed to do," said Perez. "It was clear right off the bat that they were the right partner for us. They're young and aggressive and they showed they wanted to learn our business."
Billings for the account were being negotiated at press time.
Perez said the agency has been charged with developing the company's first comprehensive campaign, which will likely include local television and print advertising and break in May. Previous ad efforts via Brothers were focused on newspaper and outdoor executions.
ChoiceCom offers businesses local and long-distance telephone and data services in Dallas, Houston, San Antonio, Austin and Corpus Christi, Texas. Its long-term plans call for expansion into Oklahoma, Arkansas and Louisiana. Tulsa may be online within the next year, Perez said.
