LOS ANGELES-Educational software publisher Knowledge Adventure has awarded advertising duties for its JumpStart Learning System software series to McCann-Erickson.
The agency’s Los Angeles office picked up the estimated $3 million account after a review of Southern California shops. The other finalists were D’Arcy Masius Benton & Bowles and DDB Needham, both Los Angeles, and Bozell Worldwide, Costa Mesa.
McCann will handle creative work and media buying and planning for the Glendale, Calif.-based client. There was no incumbent on the account, but previous advertising had been handled on a project basis by Gardner, Geary, Coll & Young in San Francisco.
“[Knowledge Adventure] is the pioneer in education software … about teaching and learning,” said Hank Wasiak, McCann-Erickson’s executive vice president, managing director. “From a creative point of view … it’s a great opportunity for us.”
Mike Agate, president of Select Resources International in Los Angeles, served as the consultant on the review.
Knowledge Adventure is a division of Cendant Software.
