Seattle Agency Brings In Industry Veteran, Rounds Out New Management Team
LOS ANGELES--Gail Piper, a veteran ad executive who has worked in San Francisco and Los Angeles, has joined McCann-Erickson's Seattle office as deputy managing director.
Piper, 41, most recently a consultant to Goldberg Moser O'Neill in San Francisco, will head up the day-to-day operations of the Seattle agency. She reports to Jim Walker, who has served as both agency manager and creative director since last March, when former executive vice president and general manager Hank Barber retired. Piper's arrival allows Walker to devote more time to the office's creative product, he said.
Piper becomes the third member of a management triumvirate that also includes Walker and Ed Cotton, director of account planning.
"This is a true partnership," Walker said. "We have our new management team in place."
Piper's agency experience includes seven years at GMO, working as a management supervisor and an account director. Last year, she worked briefly at Suissa Miller Advertising in Los Angeles. During her latest stint at GMO, she served as a consultant on new business and headed the Sonicare toothbrush account.
"Jim and I couldn't be more different as far as our interests go, but we find ourselves on the same philosophical ground in terms of how we want to run the agency and its creative direction," said the British-born Piper.
One of her key tasks will be to oversee the growth of the agency's Washington Mutual account, Piper said.
